Paramedic Prep Program

Course Information:

The Paramedic Preparation Course is an interactive course, structured to prepare students for an intensive Paramedic Program. The class meets twice a week, for 4 weeks and students will be evaluated in the Didactic, Psychomotor and Affective Domains. Students completing the course shall receive 24 hours of instructor-based Continuing Education credits.  This course will meet the Pre-Requisite for OCEMT’s Paramedic Program.

Course Description:

The course reviews the fundamentals of Paramedic Programs in a fast paced, intensive format that covers the following components:

Course Content:

  • Anatomy/Pathophysiology
  • Basic EKG/Treatment Plans
  • Pharmacology and Medication Dosages
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Patient Assessment
  • Traumatic Emergencies
  • Trauma Assessment
  • Written Examinations

*Must pass post-test with a score of 80% or better

Summer ClassJune 15th, 2021 – July 8th, 2021

Course Days & Times:  Tuesday and Thursdays 9am – 5pm

The $200 registration fee is non-refundable. Payments must be made on or before the due dates listed for each class. Failure to pay on assigned date will result in being dropped from the program.

PREREQUISITES

  • You must be currently certified as an EMT-B or EMT- I.

Required Materials

The required student workbook for the course is Rapid Interpretation of EKG’s, Sixth Edition.  Please purchase the book before your class begins.  The book is available for purchase online.

Recommended Materials

Nancy Caroline’s Emergency Care in the Streets (Vol. 1 and 2). The book is available for purchase online from JB Learning.  (Book also used for OCEMT Paramedic Program)

Gail Walraven’s Basic Arrhythmias with 12-Lead EKGs (Eighth Edition). The book is available for purchase online.
