Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider

Course Description

The BLS course is designed for a wide variety of healthcare professionals. This course prepares candidates to successfully relieve choking. Students will learn to recognize signs of choking and provide CPR with and without the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for adult and pediatric victims. The course teaches adult, child, and infant rescue skills in both out-of-hospital and in-hospital settings. This course meets the 2010 New Guidelines for CPR Healthcare Provider.

Target Audience

This course is intended for Registered Nurses, EMT, Paramedics, Respiratory Therapists, Medical Doctors, and professionals that must maintain a current Healthcare Provider card as a condition of employment.

Class Length

This class runs approximately 3 hrs for the new provider.

Prerequisite

This course is open to any student. This is the first course we recommend for all new aspiring healthcare professionals. The BLS course must be completed successfully to advance to ACLS and PALS.
