OCEMS EMT ACCREDITATION COURSE

EMTs who are seeking employment as an EMT in Orange County must successfully complete an OCEMS approved EMT Expanded Scope Accreditation course based on the OCEMS Policy 315.00. OCEMS Expanded Scope of Practice Includes:

  • Orange County EMS System
  • Orange County EMS Policies Regarding Patient Care and Transport
  • Endotracheal Tube and Tracheostomy Tube Suctioning
  • Glucometer Use
  • MDI Assistance
  • Auto-Injector
  • 12-Lead EKG Placement
  • IV Set-Up and Monitoring
  • Skills Assessment and Post-test

*Must pass post-test with a score of 80% or better

  • $600 due at registration
  • $250 – 1st payment
  • $100 – 2nd payment

Auto debit every Friday after the class begins. (2) consecutive payments.

The $600 registration fee is non-refundable. Payments must be made on or before the due dates listed for each class. Failure to pay on assigned date will result in being dropped from the program.

 

PREREQUISITES

  • You must have the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare provider CPR card at the start of class.
  • You must acquire the appropriate uniform for class through Galls.
  • You must have and bring a copy of your Hepatitis B Vaccination
  • You must have and bring a copy of your Tuberculosis Skin Test (must be within the past 6 months)
  • FISDAP testing module required for LA County students
  • Laptop or Tablet with internet access required for LA County students
  • Grooming Standards: Men must be clean shaved and Women must have their hair pulled back or braided. No visible piercings and tattoos must be covered.

MATERIAL REQUIRED

  • TEXTBOOK REQUIRED: AAOS 11th Edition EMT textbook. The textbook is not included. Older edition textbooks will not work with the current EMT curriculum.
